Burger King and Safeway are the latest food handlers to announce that they will only be buying crate-free farm products. Probably this will raise the price of pork, eggs, chicken etc. These two businesses need feedback to tell them they are doing the right thing. I for one am willing to pay more-- I'm cutting down my consumption of pork, because of the animal abuse.

There is a side issue--use of cell phones during flights (not just takeoffs and landings). If I am forced to listen to cell phone screamers for an entire flight, as I am in trains and buses already, it will make flying yet more unpleasant. Ear-popping kids games would be as bad. So allow quiet electronic devices. Send a text message, not a phone call.

I've always felt comfortable being an American with the ancestry of a proud mongrel! Me thinks Ms. Warren is dealing with some unresolved issues. Or, maybe she is incredibly ambitious and will do anything, claim anything to claw her way up the ladder. Time will tell.

Not so fast, Mr. Carroll. I lived in Oklahoma for a couple of years in the early 60s where people were scratching to find a small Indian heritage in their blood that might qualify them for oil royalties. Amazing how small a fraction could qualify a person. And, how much black or white in a blood line makes one black or white? Were Jefferson's kids by a black slave white? And finally, of course she is no Nighthorse. I don't think she has switched parties or resigned an elective office in the face of an investigation of impropriety. Is that what you meant?

This is infuriating, this piece of work sits there and admits that he's committed these crimes, yet the authorities don't charge him because they don't have " credible witnesses"? This sends the worst possible message to sexual assault victims and to the community as a whole.Despite the reparte between the interrogator and Sullivan about "proud professionalism" etc, the reality is as a law enforcement pro, Sullivan knew what kind of dodgy language to use to fall shy of a "confession" that would result in appropriate charges for the most serious crimes.The interrogator did not seem to try any where near hard enough to get that standard met. Shame all the way around.

These "leaders" just want to pass the buck endlessly along to somebody else. Saturday delivery should have been axed years ago. And what good exactly is a 5 month or even a 2-year reprieve going to do for these tiny communities who will certainly lose their post offices eventually?

Better yet, ditch the antiquated defined-benefit pension model and replace it with a standard 401k type plan, which cannot by definition be unfunded.

Some of the USPS angst is Congress' doing, via a 2006 measure which required it to fund 75 years of retiree pension benefits which was unprecedented in other agencies as well as private industry. Coupled with a declining business model, it's no surprise the USPS is on the ropes. Congress needs to provide it relief on the pension requirement and work out adjustments to sustain existing services. That said, I don't expect any of that to occur, given the current Congress' shameful record of dysfunction, absolute lack of productivity and attention to the public's needs.

As a citizen, Ozzie Guillen is entirely entitled to make statements and take positions which reflect his views. However when his comments are interpreted as coming from the coach of The Florida Marlins who have to court South Florida's sizable Cuban population into their stadium, there's a conflict. I'm not a Castro advocate but also know that U.S. foreign policy has aligned our nation with tyrants whose acts have been on par with his and a suspension for comments of this nature is a dangerous path to follow in silencing free speech.

The authors of this measure are both fraudulent and self-serving. Fraudulent in that as Vincent noted, there's no feasible way to eliminate the property tax without choking the public school system and self serving, where they're seeking to extract themselves from funding what perhaps is our greatest public asset as well is the future of our children. The property tax although much maligned, is the ideal funding mechanism for education as families and individuals make decisions on where to buy homes based on neighborhood schools' strengths or weaknesses.

And just exactly how is PERA "unfair" to hard-working taxpayers? Don't forget that those who receive a PERA benefit are hard-working taxpayers themselves, and have contributed 8% or more of their salary to the organization every month. This demonization and pension envy is what is egregious. Look up what the average PERA pension is in the state of Colorado...hardly the "pumped-up" golden parachute portrayed in these misleading articles and editorials.

Wow I can't believe the Post actually published this. Of course the police lie. They are taught how to lie IN COURT which is called perjury for you and me but for cops that is what they are taught to do in court in order to make the politician look good. That cops lie and are encouraged to lie is now common knowledge but the police unions have more power than our sissy governor who sold out to them to get his current office. Colorado is really no different than every other state. ALL cops are thugs to be sure only if the people would stop being so fearful over nonexistent threats and realize that we are all being abused by our so called "legal system" which is nothing but a cruel hoax. Not only do cops lie ALL THE TIME according to the US Attorney's office they pocket %30 of all the 'things' they steal from busts i.e. cash, tvs, etc... plus cops are above the law!!!
